Mission

At Jasper House, we provide a specialized and flexible environment that would assist clients with acquired brain injuries, mental health issues and substance use disorders in achieving their optimal level of independence. Our goal is to empower our clients with a feeling of self-control and focus their purpose toward a satisfying life and we believe that quality of life, respect, freedom and dignity are critical areas of consideration in achieving this goal for each client we serve.

Facilities

Jasper House is a residential group home located in Vancouver, British Columbia. Our group homes are within easy access of public transit, community centers, schools, parks, banks, restaurants, malls, cinemas and other community amenities.

Jasper House offers clients intensive residential and rehabilitative community program, 24-hour supervision and continuous professional care relative to housing, and personal assistance so that they can live independently, even as they require regular help with their daily activities. Our housing services are directed towards meeting the very specific needs of adults diagnosed with Acquired Brain Injuries, Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder. Our homes offer ideal settings for rehabilitation and recovery.

Programs and Services Offered

Our facilities offer services and programs designed for individuals with brain injury. Services are custom tailored to individual needs and challenges whether a respite or a transitional stay to long term care. Our qualified team and our strong clinical skills provide for a positive atmosphere and motivate each client to improve their cognitive, physical and social well-being.

Each client is encouraged to work toward goals that maximize their independence. Individualized service plans that focus on skills development are developed for each client. The following areas are taken into consideration:

  • Communication Training, Time Management, Behavior and Social Skills
  • Comprehensive Nursing Program, Medical and Physical Management
  • Individualized Mental Health Screening and Assessment
  • Rehabilitation Goal Setting, Basic Support (access to activities)
  • Rehabilitation Readiness Assessment (exploration of service options, building confidence)
  • Rehabilitation processes (assistance with goal achievement), ongoing support, referral to other services and advocacy
  • Occupational, Speech and Physiotherapy
  • Activities of Daily Living, Personal Organization, Skill Development, Coaching and Mentoring such as home management, Community Living, Interpersonal Relationships, Illness and Self Management
  • Community Participation
  • Therapeutic Art and Recreational Therapy
  • Volunteer Programs, Leisure, Vocational and Educational Pursuits
  • Computer Skills / Cognitive Exercises, Memory Development

Admission Criteria

We welcome referrals of clients with Acquired Brain Injuries, Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders. Recent medical and psychological reports must be made available upon referral.

Applicants must meet the following criteria for admission:

  • 19 years of age or older – male or female
  • Medically stable, Physically mobile
  • Has potential for progressive rehabilitation
  • Demonstrate commitment
  • Has access to funding

Program Costs

Basic daily rate for each client is covers the following services and expenses:

  • Initial pre-admission assessment and report
  • Therapy design
  • Individual Services Plan (goal-setting and behavior plan)
  • Private room and board
  • 24 hour monitoring and supervision
  • Medication administration, support and management
  • Assistance with Activities of Daily Living
  • Schedule of Activities
  • Cable television and local telephone calls
  • Team meetings
  • Mileage costs for staff driving client to medical appointments

Costs not Covered

  • Some of the costs not covered in the program:
  • Private telephone line (including long distance calls)
  • Personal clothing and toiletries
  • Medications
  • Handy Dart, taxi/transit fares
  • Additional requirements for nutrition
  • Fitness program fees
  • Additional 1:1 support
  • Other personal expenses
